CHERRY
A fine, closed grain and naturally smooth texture. Cherry is a medium-hard hardwood.
It finishes beautifully, and accepts oils evenly, giving it a very modern look over time.
Cherry darkens naturally and may show light marks or color variation early on, it’s a part of the wood’s character and how it develops a classic, uniform patina over time.
WALNUT
A naturally open, flowing grain with subtle waves, creating organic patterns unique to walnut. Walnut is a medium-hard hardwood.
It has lower impact strength than other woods, making it more susceptible to denting when used alone.
It finishes well and takes oils easily, enhancing its depth of color.
Walnut should be paired with more durable woods to improve structural stability.
MAPLE
A tight, closed grain with a smooth, uniform surface. Maple is a hard-hardwood with high impact strength, making it highly resistant to denting and ideal for handling repeated cutting while maintaining excellent structural integrity.
It finishes cleanly and absorbs oils evenly, helping seal the surface. Maple will mostly keep its light color when oiled.
Because of its hardness and strength, maple is works well as a structural base wood in cutting boards, providing stability and longevity while complementing darker species for contrast.
MAHOGANY
A straight, even grain. Mahogany is a medium-hard hardwood with good dimensional stability, meaning it resists warping and movement better than many woods, though it has lower impact strength than harder species and can dent more easily under heavy use.
It finishes cleanly and accepts oils evenly, enhancing its natural warmth.
Because mahogany is more stable than it is impact-resistant, it’s best paired with harder, more durable woods.
